The Pac-10 may be the best conference in college football this season. It certainly seems to have the best team at this moment, and there are enough teams ranked in the USA Today coaches poll for Week 9 and waiting to re-enter it for its depth to be an asset.
College Football Rankings: How The Pac-10 Rates In The Week 9 USA Today Poll
Just three Pac-10 teams show up in the poll, but all three are in the top 16. And Oregon’s dominant performance this week against UCLA tends to lend credence to the theory that the best team in all the land plays in the Pac-10.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Pac-10’s fourth-best team is probably Oregon State, and that the Beavers have been valiant losers in Texas against TCU and at Boise State. There’s a little bit of a disconnect between the conference only having three ranked teams and making a case as the best conference in the nation, but with Oregon and UCLA going into Tennessee and Texas and coming back with wins, there’s certainly been some blows for bolder scheduling struck by its teams this year.
Adding Utah, ranked seventh this week, will only help its case in 2011 and beyond.
Full Pac-10 rankings are as follows:
- No. 1 Oregon
- No. 14 Stanford
- No. 16 Arizona
