College Football Rankings: The ACC Is Kind Of In The Week 9 USA Today Poll

The ACC has been a bad conference this season, which is not new. But that it has as many ranked teams as the Pac-10 is amusing and deceptive.

Those teams that claim spots for the ACC in the USA Today coaches poll for Week 9 all have blemishes — Virginia Tech lost to James Madison; Florida State was obliterated by Oklahoma; Miami’s got two losses — but the idea that any of these teams has really proven itself against non-ACC teams doesn’t hold water.

Of course, the ACC isn’t the worst BCS conference. That’s far and away the Big East, and the ACC would be far worse if it hadn’t lured Virginia Tech and Miami from the Big East earlier this decade. But that doesn’t make the ACC as currently constructed good, per se.

Full ACC rankings are as follows:

- No. 15 Florida State
- No. 21 Virginia Tech
- No. 22 Miami
