There wasn’t much on the line for Alabama against Mississippi State tonight, after two losses knocked the Crimson Tide out of the SEC and national championship pictures. But that didn’t stop the Tide from playing with pride and dominating a Bulldogs team that had no answers for Alabama’s balanced attack.
Alabama Vs. Mississippi State: Tide Roll Behind Balanced Attack
Greg McElroy threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns, and Mark Ingram and Julio Jones combined for 227 yards from scrimmage as Alabama beat Mississippi State 30-10. The Tide went up 27-3 early in the third quarter on a 56-yard sweep by Jones, and were never threatened in the second half.
Mississippi State mustered just three yards per rush against the stout Alabama defense, and interceptions by both Tyler Russell and Chris Relf helped scuttle any chances at a comeback Mississippi State might have had.
Nick Bell, the Mississippi State player who passed away of cancer last week, was honored before the game. Bell was from Alabama.
