Wisconsin Ran Up The Score, And It’s All Indiana’s Fault

The 6th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers, you might have heard, beat Indiana 83-20 last Saturday. In football. It's hard to believe we made it this far into the season without hearing from the RUNNING UP THE SCORE IS SOOOO CLASSLESS BOO BOO shriekers, but that kind of scoreboard carnage'll do it.

Weighing in thus far are various butthurt columnists, to whom AD Barry Alvarez is admirably not apologizing -- and lo! That shining beacon of college football wisdom, Dick Vitale!

Hey, Dick Vitale has a Droid! That's neat.

Unfortunately, he’s misplacing his consternation. There were two teams on that field, and one of them was tasked with the job of preventing Wisconsin from scoring. Take a look at the box score, and note that all 24 of Wisconsin’s fourth-quarter points were scored by backups. Alert viewers have also informed us that Wisconsin’s last touchdown was a 17-yard run by a walk-on quarterback who apparently strolled untouched into the endzone. Where’s the outrage at Bill Lynch for fielding a team that’s unable to stop that from happening?
