SB Nation’s BCS Evolution takes a look at today’s Utah-San Diego State game, and how it could impact the Mountain West’s mission to gain automatic qualifier status with the BCS. The central thesis is that a Utes win today wouldn’t help the MWC’s cause, but an Aztecs win (which is far from unlikely, given Utah’s performance the past couple weeks and SDSU’s solid play) could be a game-changer with far-reaching implications in 2012 and 2013:

The Air Force Falcons have been flirting with the BCS top 25 for years, and adding SDSU as a top 25 team in the final BCS standings would help the computer average considerably, not just public perception.
↵The Utes and Aztecs kick off at 10 p.m. EST.
