The BCS rankings hierarchy for 2010 has been largely established, but a great deal of fluidity remains in the standings with just two weeks of regular-season play to go. Below are five games that will figure heavily into determining Week 12’s BCS pecking order.
No. 7 Stanford vs. Cal. The Cardinal should be able to cruise over a 5-5 team, but if you haven’t peeked at the Golden Bears’ home-road splits this season, take a look. Scary stuff happening up Strawberry Canyon way.
No. 14 VT vs. No. 24 Miami. The top two teams in both ACC divisions face off today, but a Hokies loss would reduce the entire upper echelon of the ACC to a three-loss morass.
No. 8 Ohio State vs. No. 21 Iowa. See above. If the Buckeyes drop a game today, the number of one-loss teams jockeying for a conference Rose Bowl bid narrows from three to two.Ole Miss vs. No. 5 LSU. Just for fun, we remind you that Houston Nutt is good for one inexplicable, undeserved win per season, and that he hasn’t had his yet in 2010.
No. 25 Utah vs. San Diego State. For more on this, see our earlier discussion of how an Aztecs win today could pay huge dividends for the Mountain West in 2012 and 2013.
