College Football Conference Standings: Who’s Going Bowling?

SB Nation’s BCS Evolution takes stock of the college football conference races, addressing the concern that the 2010 season may not produce enough bowl-eligible teams to fill all available slots. Here’s how the numbers are stacking up for the six major conferences heading into the final week of the regular season:
ACC. Will end the season with nine bowl-eligible teams for their nine bowl tie-ins.
Big 12. Eight bowl-eligible teams, with a (very slim) possibility of adding two more. Their eight tie-ins can already be mathematically accounted for, unless two of the top teams garner major-bowl BCS bids.
Big East. Five bowl-eligible teams, with a chance still to reach the seven it needs to fill its bowls.Big Ten. Will wrap 2010 with eight teams for their eight slots, but may end up with an available bid thanks to the likelihood of two of their squads playing in BCS bowls.
Pac-10. Three bowl-eligible teams for their six slots, with four teams still technically alive for postseason play.
SEC. Eight teams out of a possible ten already over the six-win mark.
