On Friday night, the No. 1 Oregon Ducks headed into the locker room looking up at the scoreboard, as the No. 20 Arizona Wildcats brought a 19-14 lead into halftime. In the fifteen minutes of play that followed, Oregon certainly looked like they had figured things out.
Oregon Vs. Arizona: Ducks Catch Fire, Score Three TDs To Take Lead Entering Fourth
In the third quarter, the Ducks blew through drives of 75, 85, and 99 yards at their typical breakneck pace to score three touchdowns and enter the fourth with a 34-22 lead. They were kick-started when Josh Huff galloped 85 yards for a touchdown in the quarter’s opening minutes. Darron Thomas contributed two more touchdowns, one with a 20-yard rush and another for a pass into the end zone.
Arizona committed a crucial mistake in the third, when they finally managed to stop Oregon at Arizona’s 25 and force a field goal attempt. The kick missed badly, but the Wildcats were hit with an offside call that gave Oregon a first down. The Ducks, unsurprisingly, capitalized with a touchdown.
