LSU capitalized on a special teams error to cut Arkansas’ lead to a single point early in the third quarter. Then, the Razorbacks executed one of the season’s better drives to bolster their advantage.
LSU Vs. Arkansas: Hogs Execute Brilliant Drive To Extend Lead
Arkansas marched 80 yards in 11 plays, grinding out the first 41, then covering the last 39 on a Ryan Mallett pass to Joe Adams, the massive quarterback’s third touchdown throw of the day. With the extra point, Arkansas now leads 28-20, meaning that Les Miles and his cardiac Tigers will need another dose of fourth quarter heroics to come back in this one.
Of course, “Don’t ever, ever rule out LSU in the fourth quarter” feels like law rather than aphorism at this point. And Arkansas might be one of the teams that feels especially insecure with a fourth quarter lead: the Hogs had a double-digit advantage in the final period against Auburn, then collapsed after a flurry of points from the Cam Newton-led offense.
