Last night, it seemed as if West Virginia coach Bill Stewart was going to retire, according to a report that cited multiple sources. But that might not be the case this morning.
West Virginia Tells Reporters Bill Stewart Will Not Retire
Rivals reporter Tom Dienhart tweets that West Virigina says Stewart isn’t retiring:
West Virginia has called and told me that there is NO truth to media reports that Bill Stewart will retire.Of course, the school’s choice to knock down this rumor through a media member rather than dispelling it with a statement might raise some eyebrows. And Stewart retiring passed the smell test, even after West Virginia trounced rival Pittsburgh in the Backyard Brawl this weekend.
So it helps that Stewart himself has reached out to a media outlet, telling the Blue & Gold News that he will be sticking around in Morgantown.
Bill Stewart has told the Blue & Gold News that reports of him considering retirement are completely false. That’s official enough to quiet any speculation.
