Barring a South Carolina upset of Auburn in next Saturday's SEC Championship Game, there's little mystery surrounding the 2010 participants in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. With the Tigers presumably bound for the national title game in Glendale, selection officials were all set heading into Week 13 to extend an invitation to the winner of the LSU-Arkansas game.
The Razorbacks' surprise upset does prevent the possibility of a nice grudge match between Ohio State and LSU, but football-wise, it's a better pairing. Arkansas' offense against Ohio State's defense will be a marquee-caliber showdown in a marquee setting. And while the Buckeyes don't have a happy history in New Orleans or against SEC teams in the postseason, this year's outfit comes with a rather potent offense of its own. Neither starting quarterback looks poised to capture the Heisman Trophy this year, but Ryan Mallett versus Terrelle Pryor should be quite the quarterbacks duel.
