TCU Vs. Utah: Horned Frogs Threatening Early Blowout, Lead 20-0

Utah may be riding an emotional high from the GameDay crew visit this morning, but in Rice-Eccles stadium, home crowd feelings are plummeting to earth with astonishing speed.

The Utes can find no answer thus far for Andy Dalton or Ed Wesley. The two make up the entirety of the Horned Frogs' first drive, an 80-yard, four-minute event that mixes Dalton's arm with Wesley's feet and is highlighted by two catches: One by Skye Dawson for 24 yards, and one 26-yarder by Josh Boyce to record the Frogs' first score.

The Utes get pass-happy early, and punt after two minutes. Jeremy Kerley fumbles on TCU's next first down, but recovers the ball himself, and after a quick incompletion, Dalton hits Jimmy Young for 30 yards, then nine more. Two rushes get stuffed, and the Frogs punt. Utah punts right back, and Andy Dalton launches the play of the game thus far, a 93-yard touchdown bomb to Josh Boyce.

Still largely nothing but passing from the Utes, and what's worked all year isn't working today. A ten-yard TCU penalty gets them a first down, but that's as far as they go, as Jordan Wynn fumbles while being sacked and receiver Jeremy Kerley hits Bart Johnson for a 26-yard touchdown on the Frogs' very next play. Ross Evans misses the extra point, but the damage is done.

At the end of the first quarter, TCU leads Utah, 20-0.
