Oklahoma State offensive coordinator, and Air Raid offense guru, Dana Holgorsen has reportedly interviewed for the Pitt head coaching job vacated when Dave Wannstedt abruptly retired. Though no formal offer has been made, Holgorsen is, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, at the top of Pitt athletic director Steve Pederson’s list of candidates.

At any rate, the search is still focused heavily on Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen, who, we have confirmed, has indeed interviewed for the job and multiple people have told me is still Steve Pederson’s top choice and could ultimately be offered the job down the road here pretty soon if things continue to go down the path they have seemingly been on for the past two days
Holgorsen presided over the Oklahoma State offense in 2010 as wide receiver Justin Blackmon and running back Kendall Hunter flourished. The Cowboys finished the regular season ranked No. 4 in total offense with 6,451 yards, No. 1 in yards per game with 537.6 yards and No. 2 in passing yards per game with 364.6. It was Holgorsen’s first season in Stillwater after spending time at Texas Tech, where he learned under Mike Leach, and Houston.
