As previously reported, Oklahoma St. Cowboys offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen will come aboard the West Virginia Mountaineers program as its 2011 OC and quarterbacks coach and 2012 head coach, the school announced Wednesday. Though we have no word on current coach Bill Stewart’s feelings since his reported discomfort, Stewart will have to accommodate the transition one way or another while coaching his fourth and final season as lead ’Eer.
Dana Holgorsen Named West Virginia’s Coach-In-Waiting And Offensive Coordinator
Oliver Luck, West Virginia University director of intercollegiate athletics, said in a statement:
I think the transition year for coach Holgorsen will be very beneficial to the football program, and the opportunity to learn from coach Bill Stewart should not be underestimated.
Current offensive coordinator Jeff Mullen and staff will remain in place through the team’s bowl game. Holgorsen is set to make $800,000 as coordinator and $1.4 million plus incentives in his first year as head coach.
