It took about a week and a half, but we finally got a thrilling college football bowl game.
Insight Bowl, Missouri Vs. Iowa: Video Of Micah Hyde’s Interception Return That Sealed Iowa’s 27-24 Win
Iowa edged No. 14 Missouri in the Insight Bowl Tuesday night, winning 27-24 thanks to a 72-yard interception return by Micah Hyde with 6:19 left in the fourth quarter. The Tigers got the ball back one more time, with 5:26 left in the game but never managed to get the ball past their own 47 yard line, despite running 11 plays.
Missouri came in as a slight favorite against the depleted Iowa squad, which was without RB Adam Robinson (suspended before Monday’s marijuana arrest) and WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos (suspended for drug charges), but the Hawkeyes did just enough to win, despite allowing over 500 yards of offense.
Indeed, one would never have guessed Iowa was without their leading rusher the past two seasons in Robinson, thanks to true freshman Marcus Coker, who ran for an Iowa bowl record 219 yards and two touchdowns.
The Tigers were led by QB Blaine Gabbert, who was 41-of-57 with 434 yards, a touchdown and a pair of interceptions, one of which sealed Missouri’s fate Tuesday night, thanks to Micah Hyde.
