Penn State was only a two-touchdown favorite against Temple today, and the Owls are showing why even that might have been a bad bet.

Bernard Pierce has two rushing touchdowns, Temple got another 51-yard rush from James Nixon in the first quarter, and the Owls lead 13-6 in Happy Valley after one quarter.
Penn State’s been able to run the ball as well, riding Evan Royster for 75 yards in the first frame, but two drives have stalled in Temple territory, producing field goals.
Both teams combined to attempt just nine passes in the first quarter.
