Big 12 OKs Round Robin. Won’t Someone Please Think Of The Sun Belt?

Who says there’s no benefit to losing two of your conference’s founding members? In the wake of Nebraska and Colorado’s decisions to bolt the Big 12 and turn it into a ten-team league with an outdated name, conference athletics directors voted Wednesday to approve a round-robin schedule.

↵This is great news for Big 12 fans. Just think: Texas fans will no longer have to go as long as three years between their thrilling tilts with Kansas. The no-holds-barred grudge match between Missouri and Baylor will now be renewed on an annual basis.

↵Then again, those games are better than another match up with the New Mexico States of the world. And it should strengthen the BCS credentials of Big 12 teams in the eyes of the computers and some human voters. Still, somewhere Bill Snyder is railing against a significant blow to his plans for rebuilding Kansas State.
