Final Score: 2011 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, Nevada 20, Boston College 13

Hunger has officially been fought and the Nevada Wolfpack are the ones who have bested it once and for all.

Rishard Matthews caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt for a score, as the 13th-ranked Nevada Wolf Pack ended a successful season with a 20-13 victory over the Boston College Eagles in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl.

Matthews caught seven passes for 86 yards and returned a punt 72 yards for a touchdown for the Wolf Pack (13-1), who were making an appearance in postseason action for the sixth straight season.

Colin Kaepernick connected on 20-of-33 passes for 192 yards, a touchdown and an interception for Nevada, which had lost its last four bowl games. Vai Taua carried the ball 22 times for 74 yards.

Chase Rettig completed 14-of-34 passes for 119 yards and two interceptions for the Eagles (7-6), who were making their 12th straight appearance in a bowl game.

Eagles blog BC Interruption watched their team waste another solid defensive effort, par for the course this season.

The offensive finished the night with just 183 total yards. Rettig finished the night a disappointing 14-34 for 119 yards and two interception. The only real bright spot on offense was Andre Williams 30-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to give BC an early 7-0 lead.

The defense played a very good game, limiting the Nevada rushing offense to 114 yards (2.8 yards per attempt). Nevada’s Pistol offense is one that averaged over 300 yards a game on the ground this season. With an average offense, you’ve got to think that any time you turn the Nevada offense over three times, you are going to put yourselves in a good position to win the game.
