Maryland Players Tweeting That Randy Edsall Will Be Next Head Coach

Social media’s evolution — when it comes to Twitter, especially — has made breaking news a different beast in recent years. Given recent tweets about Randy Edsall becoming Maryland’s coach, 2011 looks like it will be no different.

Here's a couple of them, first from Cameron Chism (as retweeted by D1scourse's Patrick Stevens and In The Bleachers' Michael Felder"):

Randy Edsall IS our New Head CoachTackle A.J. Francis kept things a bit more succint.

#NewEraThere’s obviously no official confirmation from the school yet, and likely won’t be until tomorrow. But players tweeting about the hire is a good sign that there was at least a meeting of some sort in College Park, and it seems unlikely that players would be tweeting misinformation.

So did the players technically “break” the news, officially? I’ll leave that for folks who are better with social media and journalistic etiquette than I am to decide that.

But it sure seems like Randy Edsall will be Maryland’s next coach.
