Social media’s evolution — when it comes to Twitter, especially — has made breaking news a different beast in recent years. Given recent tweets about Randy Edsall becoming Maryland’s coach, 2011 looks like it will be no different.

#NewEraThere’s obviously no official confirmation from the school yet, and likely won’t be until tomorrow. But players tweeting about the hire is a good sign that there was at least a meeting of some sort in College Park, and it seems unlikely that players would be tweeting misinformation.

But it sure seems like Randy Edsall will be Maryland’s next coach.
