2011 Cotton Bowl, LSU Vs. Texas A&M: One-Two TD Punch Gives Tigers Halftime Lead

The first half of the 2011 Cotton Bowl is winding down, and momentum seems to be swinging Tigers-ward ... which means, of course, that seasoned viewers will be chewing nails waiting for Les Miles to somehow fritter away his advantage, perhaps producing delicious actual fritters in the process.

Jordan Jefferson remains at the tiller, and the good ship Tiger Bait builds off a 33-yard kickoff return from Patrick Peterson with a two-minute drive that features a 26-yard run from Spencer Ware and ends with a 17-yard rushing touchdown by Stevan Ridley. LSU 21, Texas A&M 17.

The Aggies get a nice 28-yard kick return of their own off, but Ryan Tannehill is intercepted on the second ensuing play from scrimmage. Not to be outdone in ineptitude, the Tigers graciously go three-and-out. "No, I insist," says Tannehill, throwing another pick on the third play of the next series. "Well, if we must," say the Tigers, returning the interception 35 yards and scoring their fourth touchdown of the night on a two-yard lob from Jordan Jefferson to Terrence Toliver. At the end of the first half, LSU leads Texas A&M, 28-17.
