Auburn Vs. South Carolina Halftime Score: Both Teams Still Learning ‘Football’
Sure, both teams have missed an extra point. Yes, both of Auburn's attempts at trickeration have blown up in the Tigers' collective face, including a fake field goal that was picked by Melvin Ingram. And sure, Stephen Garcia is still apparently under the misimpression that it's just as good as a pass if the ball bounces to his receivers.
"Interesting." That's the word we'll go with. Not that the box score would betray that too much. (Except for the whole "two players besides the quarterback having interceptions" part.) Auburn starter Barrett Trotter if 4-of-8 for 60 yards passing, running back Michael Dyer has 69 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries, and the Tigers have a 9-6 lead.
When Garcia hasn't been throwing balls into the ground or the arms of an Auburn defensive back, he's been okay. The beleaguered Gamecock quarterback is 5-of-9 for 81 yards, a touchdown and a pick. Marcus Lattimore has 36 yards on just nine carries, but it's hard for Lattimore to get started when the Gamecocks have managed to stay on the field for only 25 snaps. Alshon Jeffery has also made a comeback after being MIA for a while; he has four catches for 67 yards and the Gamecocks' sole touchdown.
What will happen in the second half? At this point, the better question might be what won’t happen.
