South Carolina Vs. Auburn Final Score: Tigers Pull The Upset In Controversial Fashion, 16-13

In a defensive struggle with mistakes throughout, the Auburn Tigers were somehow able to escape with a 16-13 upset win over the South Carolina Gamecocks. But it didn't come without controversy.

Stephen Garcia found Bruce Ellington for 12 yards and the first down as the seconds ticked away, and it appeared the South Carolina wide receiver was down with one second to go. However, the Gamecocks never got a chance to attempt a long game-tying field goal and the clock struck zero on the play. Despite head coach Steve Spurrier's protests, the play was not reviewed, giving Auburn the three-point win.

Because of the “human element” of timing, apparently, the two seconds ticked off, ending the game.

Despite the controversial ending, the game itself was far from pretty for either side. Each team finished with four turnovers, with Auburn throwing four interceptions and South Carolina toss two picks and fumbling twice. Auburn out-gained the Gamecocks by a 358 to 289 yard margin, but only had 16 points to show for it.

Barrett Trotter completed 12 of 23 passes for 112 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Michael Dyer carried the ball 41 times for 141 yards and a touchdown, averaging 3.4 yards per carry, in the win. Philip Lutzenkirchen caught the game-winning score, sneaking out of the backfield and into the end zone with just 1:38 left.

On the other side of the field, Stephen Garcia continued his streak of inconsistency, completing just nine of 22 passes for 160 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Marcus Lattimore was off, as well, carrying the ball 17 times for 66 yards and a touchdown. Alshon Jeffery caught five passes for 86 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown.
