SMU Vs. TCU Final Score: Mustangs Upset Horned Frogs In Overtime, 40-33

Despite a spirited fourth-quarter comeback by the TCU Horned Frogs to tie the game at 33, the SMU Mustangs defeated TCU in overtime, 40-33. The Horned Frogs were unable to make a comeback this time around.

SMU had the ball first and needed just two plays to score. Quarterback J.J. McDermott ran for six yards on the first play and then connected with Jeremy Johnson for a 19-yard touchdown. Kicker Chase Hover's extra point had the Mustangs in the lead, 40-33.

Casey Pachall, who threw all three of his touchdowns in the fourth quarter, couldn't come up with another for the overtime period. His first pass went for an incompletion and his final one, on fourth-and-two, fell incomplete. SMU picked up its first win over TCU since 2005.

Except for the score at the end of regulation, the Mustangs held the lead throughout the game. J.J. McDermott threw for 349 yards and four touchdown passes. Zach Line rushed the ball effectively for 120 yards on 21 carries. But his big play was a forced fumble on the kickoff to the third quarter. His teammate Chris Parks came up with the ball in the TCU end zone for the touchdown. Receiver Darius Johnson caught 12 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns.

TCU (3-2) faces San Diego State next week while SMU (4-1) takes on the UCF Knights.
