Ball State kind of hung around with Oklahoma for a little over a quarter, trailing by just a field goal, 10-6, after the first 18 minutes. Call it a moral victory before a soul-crushing outburst in which the Sooners put 28 points on the board with the quickness to take a 38-10 lead over Ball State into the half.

Landry Jones sparked the run and continued a superb run of play for the Sooners, completing 19 of 29 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns and one interception in the first half. Jones spread the ball around, finding nine different receivers in the half. Kenny Stills, Ryan Broyles and James Hanna each caught touchdown, as well. Dominique Whaley led the way on the ground with 12 carries for 96 yards and two touchdowns to compliment the aerial attack.
Ball State quarterback Keith Wenning struggled to crack the Oklahoma defense, throwing for 65 yards and three interceptions in the first 30 minutes. The Ball State offense gained just 116 yards in the half, 51 of which came on the ground.
