VIDEO: Steve Spurrier Buries ‘Negative, Untrue’ South Carolina Writer

Edit: Yeah, this seems much less funny now that we know what probably stirred up this outburst.

A little background here: South Carolina Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier says hilarious things and rarely gives a hoot what anybody thinks.

Oh, you already knew that. A little more: State writer Ron Morris wrote an article while back [<--- dialect] about Spurrier's alleged recruitment of Gamecocks basketball player Bruce Ellington, who stepped aside from the school's hoops program to play wide receiver for Spurrier. Spurrier has repeatedly denied the claim. And since then, Morris has continued with pretty heavy criticisms of the Cocks team, especially considering this is literally the best two-year run in program history.

So at his Tuesday press conference, Spurrier kicked Morris out* of South Carolina media in front of, well, the whole world, since it’s on YouTube:

Some executives intimidate by leaning over their subjects, looking down their noses and making intense eye contact. With Spurrier, you know you’re screwed if his eyes and limbs are headed in every direction but yours.

And yes, yes, sure, fine, he’s censoring a media member. That’s not great.

* Technically he didn’t kick him out, but you try taking an entire writer’s corps on exile with you. Actually, Morris did, apparently, leading to one intense hostage situation.
