There are two kinds of big games in Week 8: ranked-on-ranked affairs and rivalry games. The Wisconsin Badgers take on the Michigan St. Spartans in the prime example of the former, while there's also a game between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and USC Trojans to ballyhoo.
Week 8 College Football Schedule, Odds: Wisconsin, Stanford, LSU Face Tests
Wisconsin might not have a better chance all year to crack the BCS top five than they will this week. Elsewhere, Stanford welcomes suddenly ranked Washington, LSU hosts Auburn and USC-Notre Dame happens. And yes, it is the Third Saturday in October.
In other BCS-altering action, the LSU Tigers take on the Auburn Tigers (who may need extra tigers!) and the Stanford Cardinal probably do something about that whole Washington Huskies-being-ranked thing. Your other big rivalry game that probably won't mean much though it boasts more charm than does the battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh: the Alabama Crimson Tide do lots of mean things to the Tennessee Volunteers.
Twelve ranked teams play road games this weekend, reminding us once again that every college football weekend is a weekend for road tests. Speaking of, College GameDay will be in East Lansing.
