Michigan State Notified Of Potential Unsportsmanlike Conduct Violation

The Big Ten has informed the Michigan St. Spartans to possible unsportsmanlike conduct concerns stemming from Saturday's game against the Michigan Wolverines. If you watched that game, you can easily imagine why. The Spartans played like, WELL, Spartans, piling up big hits and big penalties.

The most obvious example: William Gholston taking liberties with Denard Robinson’s face mask during a pile up. Mark Dantonio has been rumored to be considering a suspension of Gholston. But there was plenty of other brutish behavior going on -- Sparty racked up triple digits worth of penalty yardage.

Defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi appeared to view penalties as an unfortunate byproduct of aggressive play:

“That’s what we try to do,” Narduzzi said after Michigan State’s 28-14 win against Michigan. “Sixty minutes of unnecessary roughness. I’m just happy it didn’t get called on every snap.”
