South Carolina offensive lineman Kyle Nunn started his team’s first four games of the season, and has sat out the last three with a back injury. Unfortunately, news has come out that Nunn will miss the rest of the season for the Gamecocks, and it’s not for an injury directly related to his back problems. Nunn was hospitalized last week for a blood clot in his leg, and that blood clot, not a back injury, is what will keep him out for the rest of the year.

South Carolina Gamecocks offensive lineman Kyle Nunn has already missed some time this season for a back injury, but is now out for the season due to blood clots in his leg.
Head coach Steve Spurrier outlined Nunn’s current multitude of problems and expressed hope that the fifth-year senior would be granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA.
“Kyle has all kinds of problems...He actually went in the hospital last week with a potential blood clot in his leg. He’s on blood thinners and he’s out for the year. I don’t think his back requires surgery, but he’s definitely out for the year. He’s hoping to maybe get a medical hardship and get a sixth year. We’ll apply for that and see what happens.”
Nunn has started 13 games over the last two seasons for South Carolina, and freshman Cody Gibson has stepped into the lineup in his absence.
