UAPB-Southern Brawl Results In 41 Suspensions

Not even sure how Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Southern will field teams this coming week after a combined 41 players were suspended for at least one game following a brawl last Saturday. After UAPB blocked an extra point to beat Southern, 22-21, mayhem erupted on the field, with players throwing punches, helmets and anything else you can think of at each other in a large melee.

Arrests were made, pepper spray was used and the scene was chaotic as the situation unfolded. And now, the SWAC has spoken.

Among the 25 Pine Bluff players sitting out are leading receiver Desmond Beverly, No. 2 tackler Joe Dalton and No. 2 rusher Stephen Jones. Beverly and Jones are out for two games.

Southern's suspensions included three of its four leading tacklers, Jamie Payton, Levi Jackson and Anthony Balancier, along with top receiver LaQuinton Evans. Payton will miss two games.

Gonna go out on a limb and assume the player using his helmet as a weapon probably got in trouble.
