It’s the same story for West Virginia in the fourth quarter as it has been all game long. Just as soon as the Mountaineers appear to find some shred of momentum, Syracuse answers immediately, snatching the balance of power back while maintaining the lead.
Syracuse Vs. West Virginia Score Update: Orange Trouncing ‘Eers
Heading into the final 15 minutes, West Virginia, the No. 14 team in the country, trailed Syracuse by 19. And early in the quarter, the Orange punched it in again, widening their lead to 42-19. West Virginia was as good as dead.
But the ‘Eers answered, cutting into Syracuse’s lead on a brilliant catch by Brad Starks. With the score and the extra point, the Syracuse lead stood at 23 again. West Virginia had life, albeit barely.
The momentary flash of life didn’t last long. On its next possession, Syracuse grinding out a drive, covering 79 yards in seven plays, capped by Antwon Bailey’s score from three yards out.
With five minutes to go, Syracuse is up big, leading No. 14 West Virginia 49-23.
