Clemson Vs. North Carolina Final Score: Tajh Boyd And The Tigers Ran Away In Second Half

The Clemson Tigers might be for real if their second half against the North Carolina Tar Heels is any indication. The Tigers actually trailed early, but the Tigers offense was excellent in third quarter and the No. 7 Tigers led 59-38 on the final score board when all was said and done.

The Tigers scored five touchdowns in the third quarter after having just a one-touchdown lead -- 24-17 -- heading into halftime. Quarterback Tajh Boyd decided to take over in the third quarter, though, as he threw for three of his five touchdowns and rushed for another to give the Tigers a 59-24 lead going into the final stanza of the game. The Tar Heels tacked on two fourth quarter scores from running back Ryan Houston, but it wasn't enough to dig themselves out of the third quarter hole.

Boyd was simply outstanding in the game as he threw for 367 yards and five touchdowns while punching a one-yard run in during his third quarter scoring spree for good measure. Most impressive might be the fact that Boyd connected with five different receivers for his five touchdown passes as DeAndre Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, Martavis Bryant, Dwayne Allen and Brandon Ford all hauled in catches as they made their way to the end zone.

The Tar Heels were converted on just two of their 12 third down conversion attempts and turned the ball over six times as they struggled to keep up with the red-hot Tigers.
