BYU Vs. TCU Game Time, TV Schedule, Spread And More
TCU hosts former Mountain West Conference rival BYU at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
TCU has won three straight games over the Cougars, and were 4-2 in the series while both schools were in the MWC. In his attempt to replace Andy Dalton, sophomore quarterback Casey Pachall has completed 69.7 percent of 188 pass attempts for 1,566 yards with 17 touchdowns and just four interceptions this season, with Josh Boyce (38 receptions, 604 yards, five touchdowns) his preferred target. Taking pressure of Pachall is a three-headed rushing attack led by Waymon James, Matthew Tucker and Ed Wesley, who have 1,192 yards and 11 touchdowns in seven games.
Defense has long been a strength of head coach Gary Patterson's TCU teams, but this year's unit ranks just 37th in the nation. Sophomore defensive end Stansly Maponga has been key play-maker with 6.5 tackles for a loss and five quarterback sacks.
After a 1-2 start to the 2011 season, BYU rides a five-game winning streak into Arlington, including a 56-3 pasting of Idaho State last Saturday, topping 200 yards rushing and passing in each of the last four games. Since replacing Jake Heaps midway through the Utah State game, junior Riley Nelson is 52-of-82 for 795 yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions, and has been sacked just twice.
