Jeff Driskel, Jacoby Brissett Both Expected To Play, According To Report

Rumors are swirling following a report from Channel 6 in Orlando that Jacoby Brissett, not Jeff Driskel, will start Saturday's game against LSU. Now, according to ESPN's College Gameday, both quarterbacks may see the field against the Tigers.

The team has yet to say anything official, and may not until game time, so sit tight. Driskel was expected to be the starter all week after John Brantley suffered a lower leg injury against Alabama last week. The team never confirmed a starter, however, and early Saturday it was revealed that Driskel is dealing with an ankle injury of his own.

Despite the lack of anything concrete, it sounds like Brissett, a true freshman, will burn his redshirt today. There had been rumors that Brissett had been climbing the depth chart anyway, so this could be a case of the Gators’ coaching staff using Driskel’s injury to promote the guy they want.

Be sure to head over to Alligator Army for more on the Gators’ quarterback shuffle.
