Georgia Tech football didn't have its most difficult task this weekend as they met the Maryland Terrapins at Bobby Dodd Stadium, but the Yellow Jackets did what they needed to do pull out the victory. Led by running back Tevin Washington, Georgia Tech bested the Terrapins en route to a final score of 21-16.

Washington got the Yellow Jackets off to a great start with a 7-yard touchdown run within the first five minutes of the ACC match-up. Before all was said and done, the 6-foot-1 junior finished with 120 yards and two touchdowns to give his team the victory. Fellow running back Orwin Smith scored the other Georgia Tech touchdown, a 10-yard run in the second quarter.
Maryland struggled on offense thanks, in part, to struggles from their their quarterbacks. The Terrapins trotted out starter Danny O'Brien, but after going 1-for-6 with an interception, backup C.J. Brown was inserted. Brown wasn't any better through the air, however, as completed just four of his 17 passing attempts. Those concerns were somewhat alleviated, though, considering Brown rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
With the victory, the 13th-ranked Yellow Jackets are undefeated with a 6-0 record through the first half of the season. With that, they’re now also the first bowl-eligible team.
