LSU Taunting Call Explained By SEC Supervisor Of Officials

The first major team to get hit with a taunting call that negated a touchdown was LSU, and the player in question was the punter. Just as we all predicted, right? Brad Wing scampered around the right edge on a fake punt, quickly extended his arms out to the side and bounded into the end zone for the score. Except it wasn't a score as officials took the touchdown away because of Wing's premature celebration.

LSU settled for a field goal as a result, but nobody can strip the memory of an Australian punter gliding down the sidelines and taunting Florida. But since this was a big deal, the SEC had to release a statement confirming the call was the right one.

I firmly contend Wing felt he was moving too fast and was simply deploying air brakes, thus rendering this call incorrect.
