Air Force Vs. Notre Dame Final Score: Tommy Rees Leads Fighting Irish To 59-33 Victory

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish easily handled the Air Force Falcons on Saturday afternoon, 59-33. Quarterback Tommy Rees was an impressive 23-of-32 for 261 yards and four touchdowns. He threw three touchdowns to three different receivers in the first quarter. He had put the Irish up, 21-3, at that point and then saw his running backs, Jonas Gray and Cierre Wood, each find the end zone in the second quarter.

While the Irish did win by 26 points, this was never that close of a game. Air Force put up 17 points in the fourth quarter when Notre Dame was playing its backups. Allowing 565 yards to a triple-option offense never looks good, but that’s what is to be expected. Air Force’s rushing game was going full speed ahead, finishing with 363 yards.

Notre Dame takes next week off before it hosts the USC Trojans on Oct. 22. The Falcons return to Colorado Springs for a Thursday night game against the San Diego St. Aztecs.
