Clemson Tigers fans hit highs and lows on Saturday, watching their team take the ACC Atlantic crown while fretting about the status of injured freshman Sammy Watkins. The star receiver had to leave the game with an apparent shoulder injury, but coach Dabo Swinney says there's not much to worry about there, other than perhaps the wide receiver coach's patience:
Sammy Watkins Injury Not A Separation, Says Dabo Swinney
“There’s not anything separated,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said. “I told him (jokingly) that he’s going to milk this thing for a while, I can tell. We’re really fortunate. You worry about that. Those are pretty common injuries in college football, and he’ll be sore for a couple days. We’ll see then how he is for next week.”
Clemson needs Watkins around if it’s going to make a run for the Orange Bowl. He’s already the most prolific receiver in ACC history with four games left in the season, and from the sound of things he shouldn’t miss any of them. We’ll stay tuned in, though.
