Don’t let the Week 13 USA Today poll and the Week 13 AP Poll fool you: there will be a Big East team good (or, well, not awful) enough to be called the conference’s champion.
College Football Standings: Does Anyone Want To Win The Big East?
Entering Week 13, the Louisville Cardinals and Rutgers Scarlet Knights are tied for the Big East lead, with identical 4-2 records in conference. The Cardinals, by virtue of a head-to-head win over Rutgers, would win the conference if the season ended today.
Alas, it doesn’t, and there are six teams that could still win the conference: Louisville, Rutgers, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Connecticut. The Huskies have the longest shot of that group, and are currently 4-6, but, hey, this is America, and some Big East team needs to win the conference and likely end up in the Orange Bowl.
If it’s the Huskies, it will be their second straight trip to a BCS bowl.
