Pitt Vs. West Virginia Final Score: Mountaineers Rally Back To Win The 104th Backyard Brawl 21-20

The Pittsburgh Panthers held a 17-7 lead at halftime, but the West Virginia Mountaineers didn't pack it up in the heated "Backyard Brawl" rivalry game. The Mountaineers picked up two rushing touchdowns on the legs of running back Shawne Alston. The touchdowns gave the 'Eers a late 21-20 lead. The Panthers defense forced the ball back to the Panthers late in the fourth quarter, however.

The Panthers got the ball with a little over a minute left in the football game. Quarterback Tino Sunseri looked like he hit a deep pass down the sideline, but after review the catch was overturned and ruled incomplete. The Pitt implosion then went full force. Sunseri was rushed when he dropped back to threw and seemingly just spiked the football on the ground five yards in front of him and was flagged for intentional grounding, which not only lost a down for the Panthers but forced a 10-second runoff. On the next play, Sunseri dropped back, rolled out... then inexplicably went down and took a sack. On the final play of the game, Sunseri stepped up in the pocket to avoid the rush but couldn't feel the WVU defender bearing down on him and the ball was stripped, with an offensive lineman picking the ball up and running for his life to try and get a first down. He was cut down short.

West Virginia escapes the Backyard Brawl with a win and their BCS bowl hopes still alive.
