Vanderbilt coach James Franklin's Commodores have been a bit better than the "same old Vandy" that college football observers have used as a punchline for the better part of the modern era of college football. For that, he will be handsomely rewarded, according to Clay Travis of Outkick the Coverage, who reports that Vanderbilt is working on a contract extension with Franklin that will include a salary increase.
James Franklin Will Receive Contract Extension From Vanderbilt, According To Report
Vanderbilt’s James Franklin may be in Nashville for a while. Vandy is reportedly working on a contract extension for Franklin that will include a raise.
Vanderbilt vice chancellor for university affairs David Williams confirmed that Franklin’s extension will include a bump in salary, telling Travis, “I’ve been working with Coach Franklin’s agent since the day before Thanksgiving and we have agreed in principle to an extension and modifcation of the contract. We’re hoping to have that signed shortly.”
Franklin’s Commodores went 6-6 in the regular season, and will be heading to a bowl game for the second time since 1982. And they collected pelts along the way, walloping Kentucky and Wake Forest, putting scares into SEC East champion Georgia and top-10 team Arkansas, and nearly ending long losing streaks to SEC East foes Tennessee and Florida.
