The LSU Tigers don't need a championship game to tell them that they are the best team in the SEC, but such are the conference's rules regarding a league winner. The Tigers will play the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, Dec. 3, to clinch the No. 1 ranking in the BCS standings and a spot in the National Title Game.
SEC Championship 2011, Georgia Vs. LSU: Tigers, Bulldogs Battle In Atlanta
The LSU Tigers face the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC championship. On the surface, a victory seems a mere formality for the Tigers, but the Bulldogs aren’t certainly able to pull off the upset.
The Tigers beat seven ranked opponents this season, including wins over the then-No. 3 Oregon Ducks and the still-No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide. The Bulldogs are likely to become team No. 8 this time, as they are No. 14 in the Week 14 BCS standings. And recall, the Tigers had to switch at the start of the season from Jordan Jefferson to Jarrett Lee and then back to Jefferson during the middle of the season.
The Bulldogs, meanwhile, have been lost in the SEC shuffle this season. After losing to the Boise St. Broncos and the South Carolina Gamecocks to start the season, Georgia has quietly gone on to win 10 straight games. As great as LSU has been, a Georgia win wouldn't be a huge shocker.
