You’d think that Mark Richt’s immediate future would be settled. But if that’s what you think, you don’t know SEC Football.
Georgia President Michael Adams held his monthly cabinet meeting on Thursday and when asked about Richt’s future, he threw out a joke that reads a lot more interestingly than it was said.

You are warned. Some students at UGA decided to make a hype video for the SEC Championship Game against LSU on Saturday. It is here, and you can watch it if you’re in the mood to be kicked in the eyes and ears for three minutes and forty-two seconds. For the rest of you, we have broken down the horrors of the video in a form safe for online consumption.
This guy. This guy has been at the University of Georgia forever. If you put a gray Confederate uniform on him, he’s probably the dude who said “Fifty horses versus a hundred cannons? Sounds like odds to me, boys!” at some ill-fated moment in the Civil War. His hair was pomaded back in the 1940, and the mustache was skinnier, but he was there, putting bathtub hooch in a punchbowl at a sorority function. In the 60s he yelled at hippies, and in the ‘70s he wore their pants and listened to Eat a Peach while styling up a van with carpet on the interior. He named his children Tripp and Chad and Austin and now lives in Marietta. He plans on attending the University of Georgia forever, and then graduating to play golf and sell things to rich guys who also went to UGA. They will all go to the University of Georgia forever.

“Murray is obviously one of the best quarterbacks in the country,” Bulldogs center Ben Jones said.. “To have him under center is great because it always gives us a chance to win. It just shows how important it is for us to do a good job on the front five, just to keep him upright and give him clear lanes. I feel like if he has time and opportunities to do what he does, we’ll have a great chance to win.”
Murray completed 202-of-331 pass attempts for 2,698 yards and a school-record 32 touchdowns this season. Murray also leads the SEC in passing efficiency (155.4), but will be tested by an LSU defense that ranks in the Top 10 in every major statistical category.

“That’s what we preach, to punish. You punish anybody that gets in your way,” Hilliard said of his running style. “Don’t try to lose yards, just run forward. That’s what I do.”

In the world of college football, all championship games are not created equal. To understand just how much difference there is between them, look no further than the average ticket prices of the five biggest conference championship games (sorry, MAC fans!). According to data compiled by SB Nation’s ticketing partner TiqIQ, the average price for available tickets is more than twice as much to see Georgia play LSU in the SEC Championship game than it is to see any of the others. (Buy tickets for any of the five games here.)
This should not necessarily come as a surprise, as SEC games are traditionally among the more expensive in college football. But this game is made an even hotter ticket by the fact that the game is being played at the Georgia Dome, which makes this a de facto home game for the Bulldogs. It also doesn’t hurt that the other team is currently the No. 1 ranked team in the nation in both the BCS and AP polls. It also can’t hurt that these two teams have not yet played each other this year.

The 2011 SEC Championship football game is for all the marbles, right? Well, maybe not. Many college football analysts have drawn the conclusion that a loss in the LSU Vs. Georgia matchup on Saturday would not keep the Tigers from playing in the BCS national title game.
So the game doesn’t matter? This line of thinking does not sit well with the Bulldogs.
