SEC Championship 2011, Georgia Vs. LSU: Bulldogs Running Back Isaiah Crowell Expected To Play

Few are giving the Georgia Bulldogs any chance to take out the No. 1 LSU Tigers in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, including Georgia fans themselves. Georgia did receive some good news, however, with coach Mark Richt indicating that freshman running back Isaiah Crowell should return after sitting out with an ankle injury against Georgia Tech.

Of course, Crowell was expected to be available against the Yellow Jackets, but sat out after leaving the Bulldogs' game against Kentucky with just two carries. Another freshman, Ken Malcome, was given a chance to spur the Georgia rushing attack but struggled, gaining just 39 yards on 12 carries Saturday.

Crowell has led the Bulldogs with 832 yards rushing and five touchdowns on 172 carries for the season. His numbers should be better, but injuries have hampered the freshman throughout the year. His return should be a big boost for Georgia, though few have been successful on the ground against an LSU defense allowing just 2.64 yards per carry.
