Quay Evans Commits To Mississippi State

The Bulldogs landed a beast in the middle in defensive tackle Quay Evans.

Quay Evans, one of the top defensive tackle prospects in the country, has committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Evans is a star for Morton High in Morton, Mississippi. He also held offers from Alabama, Florida State, Auburn and LSU. Most services regard the 6-foot-2, 310-pound Evans as one of the top 20 defensive tackles, and one of the top players in Mississippi as well.

Evans is obviously very big, but he can also move, as his feet are very good for his size. He dominates his competition at the high school level, and he does without many moves at all. This is a big, athletic, raw kid.

Bulldog fans will expect him to come in and contribute right away, but that’s typically tough for defensive tackles to do -- and especially so in the SEC. He’ll likely make some splash plays mixed in with some head-scratching moments as well, due to him being so raw.

But make no mistake, this is a disruptive big body and exactly the type of player Mississippi State needs to compete in the SEC.
