Coaches hate the long layoff between the last game of the regular season and bowl games almost as much as fans. The three or four weeks between games only hinder any defensive or offensive momentum from the end of the season, and perhaps most importantly, the layoff leaves too much times for players to say or do something stupid. Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Bo Pelini wants to ensure that doesn't happen, and his first step was to ban his players from using Twitter before their 2012 Capitol One Bowl matchup against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Capital One Bowl 2012: Bo Pelini Bans Huskers From Tweeting
Pelini has a reputation as one of the more no-nonsense coaches in college football, so the news isn't especially shocking. No doubt he doesn't need any more public headaches after two separate incidents involving the police and players behind the wheel over the weekend that could leave defensive end Eric Martin and center Mike Caputo behind for the bowl game.
