The Wayne State Warriors will take on the Pitt State Gorillas in the 2011 NCAA Division II Football Championship game. This will be the first time the Warriors and Gorillas have met in their history and it will be for the biggest prize there is, the National Championship. Wayne State made it to the championship game as the No. 6 seed in their region, which is the lowest seed. That means the Warriors had to win four straight road games to make it to the championship game.
Division 2 Football Championship 2011, Wayne State Vs. Pitt State Time, TV Schedule
The Wayne State Warriors and Pitt State Gorillas square off for the first time ever in the 2011 NCAA Division II Football Championship Game.
The Warriors will be squaring off against the all-time winningest NCAA Division II team in the Pitt State Gorillas. Gorillas quarterback Zac Dickey has combined for over 3,000 total yards on the season with 26 total touchdowns, and he’ll be the focus for the Warriors defense and AFCA All-American safety Jeremy Jones. One way the Warriors can slow down Dickey is to keep him off the field, leaning on running backs Josh Renel and Toney Davis, both of which have run for over 1,300 yards on the season.
