News broke on Wednesday that Gary Crowton would be leaving the Maryland Terrapins coaching staff, in what was thought to be just another in the exodus from the Maryland program under head coach Randy Edsall. The school announced today that Crowton would remain with the Maryland program, but in an administrative role. Crowton could be at this position for up to three months, with a salary up to $125,000.
Gary Crowton Moves Into Maryland Administrative Role
“We thank Gary for his service and wish him well in this new role and beyond,” coach Randy Edsall said. The 2011 season was Crowton’s first with the Terps as the offensive coordinator that saw the team struggle to pick up the offense and move the football on the field. Crowton’s role as the offensive coordinator has been reportedly taken over by Mike Locksley. After the season, Crowton had expressed interest in the Colorado State head coaching position, which reportedly didn’t sit well with the Maryland program.
