Oklahoma State Recruiting: Blake Jackson, Cedrick Poutasi Top Weekend Visitors

There will be a plethora of talent both on and off the field in Stillwater this weekend.

It's a huge weekend on the field as the Oklahoma State Cowboys try to snap an eight-game losing streak to the Oklahoma Sooners. But the battle for recruits off the field will be just as fierce. Oklahoma State will host as many as seven prospects in all. Offensive tackle Donald Hawkins and wide receiver C.J. Curry are both Poke commitments and will try to sway the others to join them in Stillwater come fall.

The top recruit this weekend for the Cowboys is tight end Blake Jackson. Out of Scottsdale Community College, Jackson is a physical freak. At 6’4” an 235 pounds, he still runs in the 4.6 range, making him a tight end with receiver skills. It’s scary to think about what Jackson could do for Mike Gundy.

While Jackson may be the most highly touted prospect in Stillwater this weekend, he might not be the most important. That would be Cedrick Poutasi, the 6’5”, 320-pound offensive tackle out of Las Vegas’ Desert Pines High School. Offensive tackle is a major need for the Cowboys, and Poutasi is one of the better tackle prospects west of the Mississippi.

Joining Poutasi is defensive end Trace Clark of Wichita’s Collegiate School. Clark is a long (6’5”, 240) defensive end who holds offers from Oregon and and Iowa in addition to Oklahoma State.

Others potentially making the trip are 6’4” receiver Michael Thomas of Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia and 6’3” receiver Brandon Shepard of Chesterfield, Missouri’s Parkway Central High School.
