Military Bowl 2011: Air Force, Toledo Each Feature High-Powered Offenses

You'll be excused for not realizing this, but two of the nation's top offenses will face off when the Toledo Rockets takes on the Air Force Falcons in the 2011 Military Bowl on Dec. 28. The reason you probably didn't notice that the Rockets are ranked eighth in yards per game and the Falcons are ranked 19th? Probably because both play in small markets within relatively overlooked conferences.

It also doesn’t help that neither team is exactly stocked with NFL-ready prospects. Of course, that doesn’t mean that either team has lacked standout performers.

Toledo is led by a pair of quarterbacks who have shared snaps at various points in the season. Terrance Owens has the slightly better numbers, passing for 1,812 yards and 15 touchdowns, while Austin Dantin has 1,398 passing yards and 15 touchdowns. The Rockets also feature a two-headed running back situation with Adonis Thomas and Morgan Williams each rushing for 11 touchdowns.

Air Force is considerably less balanced, but that's mainly because they are one of the top rushing teams in the country. With an average of 320.3 yards per game, they have the second highest average in the nation. Asher Clark is leading the way with 1,096 yards, but he has plenty of company. Four other Falcons have at least 250 yards rushing quarterback Tim Jefferson Jr. and Mike Dewitt actually share the team lead with 10 rushing touchdowns apiece.
