Texas A&M Lineman Joe Villavisencio Dies After Head-On Accident With Semi

Texas A&M offensive lineman Joe Villavisencio reportedly passed away on Thursday following a car accident about an hour north of College Station. A short time after word of Villavisencio's passing began to spread on Twitter, more details surrounding the accident began to emerge.

According to a report from KWTX, Villavisencio was attempting to avoid a piece of debris in the road when the car he was driving was struck head-on by an 18-wheel truck.

Villavisencio was driving north of FM 39 Thursday when he served to avoid something in the road and his car hit an 18-wheeler in the southbound lane, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Villavisencio was killed in the accident.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured, KBTX-TV in Bryan reported.

The school has yet to confirm his passing, but multiple outlets are reporting it, and many of his teammates -- especially on the offensive line -- have taken to Twitter to express shock and sadness in the wake of his passing.
